El estudio representa un hito en la modelizaci\u00f3n te\u00f3rica de los fen\u00f3menos m\u00e1s extremos del universo y podr\u00eda marcar el camino hacia modelos m\u00e1s precisos para interpretar futuras observaciones de ondas gravitacionales.<\/p>\n<p>El nuevo enfoque revela c\u00f3mo se modifica la emisi\u00f3n de ondas gravitacionales cuando dos objetos masivos se aproximan o dispersan entre s\u00ed<\/p>\n<p>Desde que se detectaron por primera vez en 2015, las ondas gravitacionales \u2014ondulaciones en el tejido del espacio-tiempo provocadas por objetos masivos acelerados\u2014 han transformado la astrof\u00edsica. Sin embargo, interpretar correctamente los datos obtenidos por observatorios como LIGO, Virgo o el futuro LISA requiere de modelos te\u00f3ricos de alt\u00edsima precisi\u00f3n. Hasta ahora, las simulaciones num\u00e9ricas disponibles eran muy costosas computacionalmente y requer\u00edan semanas de c\u00e1lculos.<\/p>\n<p>El nuevo enfoque, desarrollado por Plefka y su equipo, aplica t\u00e9cnicas de teor\u00eda cu\u00e1ntica de campos y teor\u00eda de perturbaciones para resolver con alta precisi\u00f3n el llamado problema de dos cuerpos, es decir, c\u00f3mo se modifica la emisi\u00f3n de ondas gravitacionales cuando dos objetos masivos se aproximan o dispersan entre s\u00ed. El modelo es capaz de proporcionar resultados anal\u00edticos sobre \u00e1ngulos de dispersi\u00f3n, energ\u00eda radiada y el efecto de retroceso, tambi\u00e9n conocido como \u2018patada gravitacional\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>De la teor\u00eda al modelo<\/h2>\n<p>Una de las revelaciones m\u00e1s sorprendentes es la aparici\u00f3n de variedades de Calabi\u2013Yau \u2014estructuras geom\u00e9tricas complejas que surgen de la teor\u00eda de cuerdas\u2014 en los c\u00e1lculos de la energ\u00eda radiada y del retroceso. Estas variedades, tradicionalmente consideradas como abstracciones matem\u00e1ticas de seis dimensiones, encuentran por primera vez una conexi\u00f3n directa con fen\u00f3menos f\u00edsicos observables. \u00abSu presencia profundiza nuestra comprensi\u00f3n del v\u00ednculo entre la f\u00edsica y las matem\u00e1ticas\u00bb, destaca Benjamin Sauer, investigador de la Universidad Humboldt. \u00abEste descubrimiento puede cambiar radicalmente c\u00f3mo abordamos estas funciones en f\u00edsica te\u00f3rica\u00bb, a\u00f1ade Uhre Jakobsen, del Instituto Max Planck de F\u00edsica Gravitacional.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo utiliz\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 300 000 horas de computaci\u00f3n\u00a0\u2014es decir, el equivalente a tener 300 GPUs procesando durante 1 000 horas, o viceversa\u2014\u00a0de alto rendimiento para resolver las ecuaciones implicadas, lo que muestra el papel clave de la f\u00edsica computacional. \u00abLa disponibilidad inmediata de estos recursos fue esencial para el \u00e9xito del proyecto\u00bb, afirma el doctorando Mathias Driesse, responsable de esta parte del estudio.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Los esfuerzos interdisciplinarios \u2014desde la teor\u00eda pura hasta el c\u00e1lculo pr\u00e1ctico\u2014 pueden superar desaf\u00edos que antes parec\u00edan insalvables<\/p>\n<p>Jan Plefka<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>En un comentario\u00a0que acompa\u00f1a el art\u00edculo, el investigador Zhengwen Liu subraya la precisi\u00f3n del modelo como \u00abde referencia\u00bb.
