Esta flexibilidad ecol\u00f3gica habr\u00eda sido clave para el \u00e9xito de su expansi\u00f3n por Eurasia, a diferencia de intentos anteriores que fracasaron.<\/p>\n<p>Un equipo internacional de investigadores, liderado por Eleanor Scerri, del Instituto Max Planck de Geoantropolog\u00eda (Alemania), y Andrea Manica, de la Universidad de Cambridge (Reino Unido), ha reconstruido c\u00f3mo cambiaron los entornos habitados por los humanos en \u00c1frica entre hace 120.000 y 14.000 a\u00f1os. Mediante modelos de distribuci\u00f3n de especies, analizaron m\u00e1s de un centenar de yacimientos arqueol\u00f3gicos junto a datos ambientales como la temperatura anual, la precipitaci\u00f3n y la densidad de vegetaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados muestran que, a partir de hace unos 70.000 a\u00f1os, los humanos comenzaron a ocupar una gama mucho m\u00e1s amplia de h\u00e1bitats, especialmente en el oeste, centro y norte del continente africano. \u00abNuestro estudio revela que el nicho ecol\u00f3gico humano se expandi\u00f3 significativamente en ese periodo, lo que indica una mayor capacidad para adaptarse a entornos variados\u00bb, se\u00f1ala Emily Hallett, coautora del trabajo e investigadora en la Universidad Loyola de Chicago (EE UU).<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Una diferencia clave respecto a migraciones fallidas<\/h2>\n<p>Hasta ahora, los intentos anteriores de salir de \u00c1frica hab\u00edan coincidido con momentos clim\u00e1ticamente favorables, cuando la franja saharo-ar\u00e1biga se volv\u00eda m\u00e1s h\u00fameda y permit\u00eda el paso hacia Eurasia. Sin embargo, la migraci\u00f3n exitosa que dio origen a las poblaciones no africanas actuales ocurri\u00f3 en un momento menos propicio, lo que sugiere que\u00a0fueron otros factores los que marcaron la diferencia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEste es un resultado clave\u201d, explica el profesor Manica. \u201cEn las migraciones anteriores, el aumento de las precipitaciones en el cintur\u00f3n des\u00e9rtico cre\u00f3 &#8216;corredores verdes&#8217; para que las personas se desplazaran, pero hace entre 50.000 y 70.000 a\u00f1os la ruta para salir de \u00c1frica habr\u00eda sido m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil que en per\u00edodos anteriores, y aun as\u00ed, esta expansi\u00f3n fue considerable y, en \u00faltima instancia, exitosa\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abLa clave parece haber sido una mayor flexibilidad ecol\u00f3gica\u00bb, explica la investigadora Michela Leonardi, del Museo de Historia Natural de Londres. \u00abLos grupos humanos que salieron del continente estaban mejor preparados para afrontar entornos diversos y desafiantes\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio sugiere que esta expansi\u00f3n del nicho humano pudo estar impulsada por un mayor contacto entre poblaciones y el intercambio cultural dentro del propio continente africano, lo que favoreci\u00f3 la movilidad y la adaptaci\u00f3n a nuevos territorios.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Una expansi\u00f3n silenciosa pero determinante<\/h2>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los autores, no hay evidencias claras de que nuevas tecnolog\u00edas o cruces con otros hom\u00ednidos explicaran por s\u00ed solos este \u00e9xito migratorio.
