{"id":139037,"date":"2025-06-23T11:28:14","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T10:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/helloproject.es\/vigilancia\/un-gps-diminuto-para-eliminar-tumores-con-precision\/"},"modified":"2025-06-23T11:28:14","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T10:28:14","slug":"un-gps-diminuto-para-eliminar-tumores-con-precision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helloproject.es\/vigilancia\/un-gps-diminuto-para-eliminar-tumores-con-precision\/","title":{"rendered":"Un GPS diminuto para eliminar tumores con precisi\u00f3n"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, el desarrollo de terapias basadas en la manipulaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas del sistema inmunitario con objeto de aumentar su capacidad de destruir c\u00e9lulas tumorales ha despertado un enorme inter\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Dentro de este tipo de terapias, una de las m\u00e1s prometedoras es la que utiliza linfocitos T (un tipo de gl\u00f3bulo blanco especializado en la inmunidad celular) modificados gen\u00e9ticamente y conocidos como CAR T (por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/CAR_T_cell\" target=\"_blank\">Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells<\/a>). Este tipo de terapia ha dado muy buenos resultados en ciertos c\u00e1nceres de la sangre, como leucemias y linfomas.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, no ha sido igual de eficaz en tumores s\u00f3lidos, como los que afectan a \u00f3rganos y tejidos. Aqu\u00ed es donde entran en juego unas diminutas part\u00edculas inteligentes desarrolladas por un equipo de cient\u00edficos de la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid (UPM), del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comunidad.madrid\/hospital\/ninojesus\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hospital Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas de Madrid<\/a> y del Instituto de Salud Carlos III (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.isciii.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">ISCIII<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Estas\u00a0nanopart\u00edculas\u00a0se comportan como un sistema de guiado para los CAR T ya que marcan con precisi\u00f3n a las c\u00e9lulas malignas<\/p>\n<p>Estas nanopart\u00edculas (llamadas protoc\u00e9lulas, ya que presentan una composici\u00f3n similar a la de las c\u00e9lulas) se comportan como un sistema de guiado para los CAR T ya que marcan con precisi\u00f3n a las c\u00e9lulas malignas y les muestran el camino a seguir, dejando a salvo a las c\u00e9lulas sanas.<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>C\u00e9lulas del propio paciente<\/h2>\n<p>En el trabajo realizado se ha comprobado que el uso de estas nanopart\u00edculas mejora de forma significativa la capacidad de los CAR T para encontrar y eliminar las\u00a0c\u00e9lulas del neuroblastoma, un tipo de c\u00e1ncer infantil muy agresivo que afecta al sistema nervioso y que actualmente no cuenta con tratamientos eficaces.<\/p>\n<p>Los CAR T se producen a partir de c\u00e9lulas precursoras de linfocitos extra\u00eddas del propio paciente en las que se introducen modificaciones gen\u00e9ticas para dotarlas de la capacidad de detecci\u00f3n de determinados patrones moleculares presentes \u00fanicamente en las c\u00e9lulas tumorales (ant\u00edgenos tumorales).<\/p>\n<p>Cuando estos CAR T\u00a0se inyectan en el paciente, son capaces de buscar y destruir las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas de una forma extremadamente precisa<\/p>\n<p>De esta forma, cuando estos CAR T se inyectan en el paciente, son capaces de buscar y destruir las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas de una forma extremadamente precisa y han demostrado una enorme eficacia para tratar tumores l\u00edquidos. Desafortunadamente, su eficacia en el tratamiento de tumores s\u00f3lidos ha sido hasta el momento muy escasa.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Mejoras en modelos tumorales<\/h2>\n<p>Una de las principales razones que explican esta baja eficacia es la incapacidad de los CAR T de reconocer a la c\u00e9lula tumoral dentro de un tejido tan complejo como suele ser un tumor s\u00f3lido, donde habitan no solo las c\u00e9lulas tumorales, sino m\u00faltiples poblaciones celulares. Adem\u00e1s, las c\u00e9lulas tumorales aprenden con el tiempo a ocultar sus ant\u00edgenos superficiales dificultando a\u00fan m\u00e1s su reconocimiento por los CAR T.<\/p>\n<p>En un trabajo desarrollado por Alejandro Baeza, de la Escuela T\u00e9cnica Superior de Ingenier\u00eda Aeron\u00e1utica y del Espacio (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.etsiae.upm.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">ETSIAE<\/a>) de la UPM, en colaboraci\u00f3n con los grupos de investigaci\u00f3n de Manuel Ram\u00edrez Orellana del Hospital Universitario Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas de Madrid, y Javier Garc\u00eda Castro del Instituto de Salud Carlos III, se han desarrollado nanopart\u00edculas inteligentes capaces de navegar por el torrente sangu\u00edneo, acumularse preferentemente en la zona tumoral y, una vez all\u00ed, marcar selectivamente a las c\u00e9lulas tumorales con una determinada mol\u00e9cula \u2212la fluoresce\u00edna\u2212 que es reconocida por CAR T, ya que las c\u00e9lulas T han sido espec\u00edficamente dise\u00f1ados para detectar este patr\u00f3n molecular.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nuestras protoc\u00e9lulas act\u00faan como un sistema de guiado que se\u00f1ala el camino que tiene que seguir los CAR T para erradicar el tumor, sin afectar al resto de c\u00e9lulas sanas del organismo<\/p>\n<p>Alejandro Baeza, de la Escuela T\u00e9cnica Superior de Ingenier\u00eda Aeron\u00e1utica y del Espacio<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>La eficacia de estos sistemas se ha ensayado en modelos tumorales que afectan en los primeros cinco a\u00f1os de la vida (neuroblastomas). Se ha comprobado que la administraci\u00f3n de estos nanosistemas mejora significativamente la capacidad de los CAR T de reconocer y destruir de forma selectiva las c\u00e9lulas de neuroblastoma.<\/p>\n<p>En palabras de Baeza, investigador de la UPM que lidera estos estudios \u201cnuestras protoc\u00e9lulas act\u00faan como un sistema de guiado que se\u00f1ala el camino que tiene que seguir los CAR T para erradicar el tumor, sin afectar al resto de c\u00e9lulas sanas del organismo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, los investigadores est\u00e1n trabajando en la evaluaci\u00f3n de la eficacia de estos sistemas en modelo de neuroblastoma en rat\u00f3n, que imita de forma m\u00e1s precisa el tejido tumoral.
