Detecci\u00f3n temprana del c\u00e1ncer<\/h2>\n

Laura Lechuga, investigadora del CSIC y directora del grupo de Nanobiosensores y Aplicaciones Bioanal\u00edticas en el Instituto Catal\u00e1n de Nanociencia y Nanotecnolog\u00eda ha sido galardonada con\u00a0Premio Fundaci\u00f3n Lilly de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica Precl\u00ednica 2025<\/p>\n

Su trabajo se centra en la detecci\u00f3n temprana del c\u00e1ncer antes de que aparezcan los primeros s\u00edntomas. Para ello, desarrolla\u00a0biosensores nanofot\u00f3nicos ultrasensibles\u00a0capaces de identificar biomarcadores como microARNs o alteraciones en la metilaci\u00f3n del ADN que se asocian a tumores como el de pulm\u00f3n o el de ovario.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nuestros dispositivos son capaces de detectar en cuesti\u00f3n de minutos infecciones bacterianas, virales o f\u00fangicas con una sensibilidad extraordinaria, incluso en escenarios de emergencia como una UCI o una ambulancia<\/p>\n

Por su parte, el investigador y jefe de Endocrinolog\u00eda y Nutrici\u00f3n en el Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez-Real es pionero en se\u00f1alar el papel clave de la inflamaci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica en obesidad y diabetes tipo 2. Ha sido galardonado\u00a0con el Premio Fundaci\u00f3n Lilly de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica Cl\u00ednica 2025.<\/p>\n

Su trabajo ha demostrado que el exceso de hierro y la microbiota intestinal alterada agravan estas enfermedades.<\/p>\n

Nos preguntamos si esa resistencia pod\u00eda haber sido protectora en alg\u00fan momento evolutivo, y encontramos que la inflamaci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica era el punto en com\u00fan<\/p>\n

\u00a0Todo empez\u00f3 con una pregunta sobre la resistencia a la insulina, presente en una de cada cuatro personas. \u201cNos preguntamos si esa resistencia pod\u00eda haber sido protectora en alg\u00fan momento evolutivo, y encontramos que la inflamaci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica era el punto en com\u00fan\u201d.<\/p>\n

A partir de ah\u00ed, su grupo ha seguido la pista del\u00a0lipopolisac\u00e1rido (LPS), una mol\u00e9cula de origen bacteriano que induce inflamaci\u00f3n. Han descubierto que los pacientes con obesidad y diabetes tipo 2 tienen una microbiota intestinal alterada, rica en bacterias gramnegativas que liberan LPS. Esta composici\u00f3n no solo promueve inflamaci\u00f3n, sino que tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 relacionada con h\u00edgado graso, depresi\u00f3n, alteraciones cognitivas y adicci\u00f3n a la comida.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
