Esta semana, un nuevo estudio revela que esta dr\u00e1stica reducci\u00f3n no solo es num\u00e9rica y de tama\u00f1o, sino tambi\u00e9n gen\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n<p>Investigadores del Centro Helmholtz GEOMAR para la Investigaci\u00f3n Oce\u00e1nica de Kiel (Alemania) han demostrado que d\u00e9cadas de sobrepesca han dejado huella en el ADN del bacalao del B\u00e1ltico oriental. Seg\u00fan los resultados, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/esl\/Noticias\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/sciadv.adr9889\" target=\"_blank\">publicados en la revista<\/a> Science Advances, la presi\u00f3n pesquera ha alterado el genoma de esta especie marina, favoreciendo a los individuos que crecen lentamente y alcanzan antes la madurez reproductiva.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Esto es\u00a0evoluci\u00f3n en tiempo real, impulsada por la actividad humana<\/p>\n<p>Thorsten Reusch, director de Ecolog\u00eda Marina en GEOMAR<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00abEl bacalao est\u00e1 evolucionando como respuesta a la explotaci\u00f3n humana\u00bb, afirma la bi\u00f3loga Kwi Young Han, primera autora del estudio. \u00abHemos observado una disminuci\u00f3n significativa del tama\u00f1o medio, relacionada con tasas de crecimiento m\u00e1s bajas, e identificado variantes gen\u00e9ticas que han cambiado sistem\u00e1ticamente en frecuencia\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo analiz\u00f3 el ADN de 152 otolitos \u2014estructuras calcificadas en el o\u00eddo de los peces que registran el crecimiento anual, como los anillos de los \u00e1rboles\u2014 recogidos entre 1996 y 2019 en la Cuenca de Bornholm, el \u00faltimo gran \u00e1rea de desove de esta poblaci\u00f3n.
