Paulson de Ingenier\u00eda y Ciencias Aplicadas de Harvard (SEAS, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) en Estados Unidos han creado una alternativa usando la biolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo investigador ha demostrado que puede cultivar algas verdes en condiciones similares a las de Marte en el interior de refugios de biopl\u00e1sticos que fabrican las propias algas. Las algas crecieron dentro de una c\u00e1mara de crecimiento impresa en 3D y fabricada con un biopl\u00e1stico llamado \u00e1cido polil\u00e1ctico.<\/p>\n<p>Las algas se mantuvieron a una presi\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica similar a la de Marte, 600 pascales \u2014m\u00e1s de 100 veces inferior a la de la Tierra\u2014<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEn este sistema, los biopl\u00e1sticos estabilizan la presi\u00f3n y pueden bloquear la radiaci\u00f3n ultravioleta a la vez que transmiten luz visible, lo que permite que las algas puedan hacer la fotos\u00edntesis\u201d, explica Quayum.<\/p>\n<p>Las algas se mantuvieron a una presi\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica similar a la de Marte, 600 pascales \u2014m\u00e1s de 100 veces inferior a la de la Tierra\u2014 y en un entorno rico en di\u00f3xido de carbono, en lugar de nitr\u00f3geno y ox\u00edgeno como en la Tierra.
