Como explica la investigadora en el CENIEH Laura Mart\u00edn-Franc\u00e9s, coautora del estudio, \u201cest\u00e1 t\u00e9cnica permite acceder a la estructura interna de los f\u00f3siles y reconstruirlos en 3D sin causar da\u00f1os visible\u201d. Por esta raz\u00f3n, se hab\u00eda considerado una t\u00e9cnica no destructiva, y ha sido utilizada ampliamente utilizada por la comunidad cient\u00edfica.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio demuestra por primera vez que el uso del micro-CT reduce el col\u00e1geno en huesos y dientes, lo que puede dificultar futuros an\u00e1lisis cient\u00edficos<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, este trabajo, resultado de una colaboraci\u00f3n internacional con la Universidad de Oxford (Reino Unido), ha demostrado por primera vez una relaci\u00f3n directa entre el uso del micro-CT y la reducci\u00f3n de la cantidad de col\u00e1geno preservado en huesos y dientes, tanto f\u00f3siles como modernos, lo que pueden limitar, o incluso impedir, futuros an\u00e1lisis cient\u00edficos sobre estos restos.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Ventajas e inconvenientes<\/h2>\n<p>La micro-CT emplea radiaciones electromagn\u00e9ticas de alta energ\u00eda, conocidas como rayos X, bien conocidos por su capacidad de inducir cambios a nivel microsc\u00f3pico en los materiales con los que interact\u00faan, \u201cLos resultados de nuestro estudio no constituyen una gran sorpresa, porque ya se sab\u00eda que esta t\u00e9cnica podr\u00eda favorecer la degradaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas en huesos y dientes, aunque nunca se hab\u00eda demostrado experimentalmente hasta ahora\u201d, declara el investigador del CENIEH Mathieu Duval, autor principal del estudio.<\/p>\n<p>Los autores no proponen prohibir la t\u00e9cnica, pero s\u00ed alertan sobre los riesgos de su uso sistem\u00e1tico y recomiendan precauci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEsta t\u00e9cnica sigue ofreciendo m\u00e1s ventajas que inconvenientes para analizar los f\u00f3siles, por lo cual no se trata de prohibirla.
