Este ha sentado las bases para investigaciones adicionales que podr\u00edan conducir a una identificaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s temprana o a avances terap\u00e9uticos para este trastorno.<\/p>\n<p>Hay 57 regiones gen\u00f3micas diferentes asociadas a la tartamudez\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Este trabajo dirigido por investigadores de la Universidad Vanderbilt (EE. UU.) revela que hay 57 regiones\u2019 gen\u00f3micas diferentes asociadas a la tartamudez y sugiere una estructura gen\u00e9tica compartida entre este trastorno, el autismo o la depresi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados publicados en la revista Nature Genetics suponen una mejor comprensi\u00f3n de las causas de la tartamudez. Seg\u00fan los autores gracias a ellos se podr\u00edan reemplazar las ideas anticuadas sobre este trastorno, a menudo mantenidas por el p\u00fablico general y que contribuyen al estigma.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Un problema poco estudiado<\/h2>\n<p>La tartamudez, caracterizada por repeticiones de s\u00edlabas y palabras, prolongaciones de sonidos y pausas entre palabras. Es el trastorno de fluidez del habla m\u00e1s com\u00fan, y afecta a unos 400 millones de personas en el mundo, seg\u00fan la investigadora Jennifer Below, autora del estudio, directora del Instituto de Gen\u00e9tica de Vanderbilt y profesora de Medicina en el Centro M\u00e9dico de la Universidad de Vanderbilt.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Las patolog\u00edas del habla y el lenguaje se han estudiado muy poco porque no requieren hospitalizaci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p>ennifer Below, directora del Instituto de Gen\u00e9tica de Vanderbilt<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNadie entiende realmente por qu\u00e9 alguien tartamudea, ha sido un completo misterio. Y esto se aplica a la mayor\u00eda de las patolog\u00edas del habla y el lenguaje, que se han estudiado muy poco porque no requieren hospitalizaci\u00f3n, pero pueden tener consecuencias enormes en la calidad de vida de las personas\u201d, se\u00f1ala la misma investigadora.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Un trastorno estigmatizado<\/h2>\n<p>Los j\u00f3venes que tartamudean reportan un mayor acoso, una menor participaci\u00f3n en clase y una experiencia educativa m\u00e1s negativa. Un problema que tambi\u00e9n puede afectar negativamente las oportunidades laborales, el rendimiento laboral percibido y el bienestar mental y social.<\/p>\n<p>Aproximadamente el 80 % de las personas con tartamudez se recupera espont\u00e1neamente con o sin logopedia<\/p>\n<p>La tartamudez suele aparecer en ni\u00f1os de entre 2 y 5 a\u00f1os, y aproximadamente el 80 % de ellos se recupera espont\u00e1neamente, con o sin logopedia, y aunque al principio afecta a un n\u00famero casi igual de hombres y mujeres, despu\u00e9s pero es m\u00e1s com\u00fan en adolescentes y adultos varones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHist\u00f3ricamente, hemos considerado la musicalidad, el habla y el lenguaje como tres entidades separadas. No osbtante, estos estudios sugieren que podr\u00eda existir una base gen\u00e9tica com\u00fan y que la arquitectura cerebral que regula estas capacidades podr\u00eda formar parte de una misma v\u00eda\u201d, asegura la investigadora.<\/p>\n<p>Dillon Pruett, que tiene este trastorno y es coautor del estudio, ha incidido en la cantidad de preguntas sin respuesta sobre la tartamudez. Tras comprobar que hay muchos genes involucrados, se muestra convencido de que este estudio puede ayudar a disipar el estigma asociado y a desarrollar nuevos enfoques terap\u00e9uticos.<\/p>\n<p>REFERENCIA:<\/p>\n<p>Hannah G.
