Este avance, probado en ratones, ofrece una alternativa m\u00e1s segura y eficaz a los ant\u00eddotos tradicionales y podr\u00eda transformar el tratamiento de las mordeduras de serpiente.<\/p>\n<p>Los detalles de la investigaci\u00f3n se publican en la revista Nature en un art\u00edculo liderado por <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/Entrevistas\/Nuestros-programas-de-diseno-de-proteinas-estan-abiertos-y-los-usan-investigadores-en-todo-el-mundo\" target=\"_blank\">David Baker<\/a>, de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Washington, \u00faltimo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/Noticias\/Baker-Hassabis-y-Jumper-Nobel-de-Quimica-por-descifrar-la-estructura-de-las-proteinas\" target=\"_blank\">premio Nobel de Qu\u00edmica<\/a>, y Timothy Patrick Jenkins, de la Universidad T\u00e9cnica de Dinamarca.<\/p>\n<p>Las mordeduras de serpiente venenosa afectan cada a\u00f1o a entre 1,8 y 2,7 millones de personas, provocando unas 100.000 muertes anuales y el triple de discapacidades permanentes, incluida la p\u00e9rdida de miembros.<\/p>\n<p>Cada a\u00f1o, entre 1,8 y 2,7 millones de personas sufren mordeduras de serpiente venenosa, causando unas 100.000 muertes y el triple de discapacidades permanentes<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan un comunicado de la Universidad T\u00e9cnica de Dinamarca, que cita datos de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud, la mayor\u00eda de las lesiones se producen en \u00c1frica, Asia y Am\u00e9rica Latina, donde \u00abla debilidad de los sistemas sanitarios agrava el problema\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>En la actualidad, los \u00fanicos antivenenos utilizados para tratar a las v\u00edctimas de mordeduras de serpiente proceden del plasma animal y a menudo tienen un coste elevado, una eficacia limitada y efectos secundarios adversos.<\/p>\n<p>Los antivenenos actuales, elaborados a partir de plasma animal, suelen ser costosos, de eficacia limitada y con efectos secundarios adverso<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, los venenos difieren mucho de una especie de serpiente a otra, lo que obliga a personalizar los tratamientos, recuerda la universidad.<\/p>\n<p>En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, sin embargo, los cient\u00edficos han profundizado en el conocimiento de las toxinas de serpiente y han desarrollado nuevas formas de combatir sus efectos, como en este nuevo trabajo.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo dirigido por Baker y Jenkins utiliz\u00f3 herramientas de aprendizaje profundo para dise\u00f1ar nuevas prote\u00ednas que se unen a las toxinas mortales de las cobras y las neutralizan.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Toxinas de tres dedos<\/h2>\n<p>La investigaci\u00f3n hecha en ratones se centra en las llamadas toxinas de tres dedos.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque las prote\u00ednas dise\u00f1adas todav\u00eda no protegen del veneno completo \u2013que es una mezcla compleja de diferentes toxinas exclusivas de cada especie de serpiente\u2013,\u00a0las mol\u00e9culas generadas por IA proporcionan una protecci\u00f3n total contra dosis letales de toxinas de tres dedos, con una tasa de supervivencia de los ratones del 80-100 %.<\/p>\n<p>Las mol\u00e9culas generadas por IA proporcionan una protecci\u00f3n total contra dosis letales de toxinas de tres dedos, con una tasa de supervivencia de los ratones del 80-100 %<\/p>\n<p>\u00abLas antitoxinas que hemos creado son f\u00e1ciles de descubrir utilizando \u00fanicamente m\u00e9todos computacionales y son baratas de producir y robustas en las pruebas de laboratorio\u00bb, resume Baker.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Se pueden fabricar con microbios<\/h2>\n<p>Las nuevas antitoxinas pueden fabricarse con microbios, lo que evita la inmunizaci\u00f3n tradicional con animales -los sueros antiof\u00eddicos de hoy en d\u00eda se elaboran a partir de los anticuerpos que genera el veneno en otros animales-. Tambi\u00e9n se reducen los costes de producci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, otra ventaja es que las prote\u00ednas dise\u00f1adas son peque\u00f1as, tanto que se espera que penetren mejor en los tejidos y neutralicen las toxinas m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente que los anticuerpos actuales, seg\u00fan los autores.<\/p>\n<p>Y como las prote\u00ednas se crearon \u00edntegramente en el ordenador mediante un software basado en inteligencia artificial, se redujo \u00abdr\u00e1sticamente\u00bb el tiempo empleado en la fase de descubrimiento.<\/p>\n<p>Las prote\u00ednas dise\u00f1adas son peque\u00f1as por lo que pueden\u00a0penetrar mejor en los tejidos y neutralizar las toxinas m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente<\/p>\n<p>\u00abNo tuvimos que realizar varias rondas de experimentos de laboratorio para encontrar antitoxinas que funcionaran bien; el software de dise\u00f1o es tan bueno que solo tuvimos que probar unas pocas mol\u00e9culas\u00bb, apunta Baker.<\/p>\n<p>Son \u00abresultados alentadores\u00bb, dicen los autores, pero queda trabajo por hacer.
