As\u00ed, han logran que especies que no degradan pl\u00e1sticos, como Escherichia coli, adquieran esta capacidad.<\/p>\n<p>La t\u00e9cnica, denominada GenRewire, permite reorientar las funciones presentes en el genoma de las prote\u00ednas para que desarrollen nuevas capacidades sin comprometer su funcionamiento natural.<\/p>\n<p>Frente a las t\u00e9cnicas tradicionales de ingenier\u00eda gen\u00e9tica, que dependen de la introducci\u00f3n de ADN ajeno, el estudio publicado en la revista\u00a0Trends in Biotechnology\u00a0plantea un cambio de paradigma.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Con la nueva t\u00e9cnica no necesitamos alterar el equilibrio gen\u00e9tico de la c\u00e9lula con elementos externos<\/p>\n<p>Manuel Ferrer, investigador del CSIC<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNuestro m\u00e9todo parte de una idea sencilla: si las prote\u00ednas nativas pueden ser redise\u00f1adas computacionalmente para hacer algo nuevo, no necesitamos alterar el equilibrio gen\u00e9tico de la c\u00e9lula con elementos externos\u201d, explica\u00a0Manuel Ferrer, investigador del CSIC en el Instituto de Cat\u00e1lisis y Petroleoqu\u00edmica (ICP-CSIC) y coordinador del estudio.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Otorgar una nueva habilidad<\/h2>\n<p>Para validar esta tecnolog\u00eda, los cient\u00edficos han aplicado este m\u00e9todo para dotar a la bacteria\u00a0Escherichia coli\u00a0de la capacidad de degradar part\u00edculas de pl\u00e1stico PET (tereftalato de polietileno) de tama\u00f1o nanom\u00e9trico.<\/p>\n<p>Se trata de nanopl\u00e1sticos omnipresentes en nuestra vida cotidiana, utilizados en la fabricaci\u00f3n de envases o en la industria textil, que se han convertido en contaminantes con un alto impacto en el medioambiente y en la salud.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nuestro enfoque es \u00fanico porque combina inteligencia artificial, simulaci\u00f3n por supercomputaci\u00f3n y edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica precisa<\/p>\n<p>V\u00edctor Guallar, investigador del BSC<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Este logro se ha conseguido mediante la reprogramaci\u00f3n de dos prote\u00ednas de la bacteria, sin necesidad de insertar genes externos. \u201cNuestro enfoque es \u00fanico porque combina inteligencia artificial, simulaci\u00f3n por supercomputaci\u00f3n y edici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica precisa para incorporar nuevas actividades en prote\u00ednas naturales\u201d, afirma\u00a0V\u00edctor Guallar, investigador del BSC y coordinador del estudio.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Agilizaci\u00f3n gracias a la IA<\/h2>\n<p>Las prote\u00ednas modificadas sustituyen a las originales en el genoma, lo que permite a la c\u00e9lula mantener su equilibrio biol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, la t\u00e9cnica GenRewire destaca por su funcionamiento sencillo: consiste en analizar en un supercomputador las prote\u00ednas codificadas por un genoma y, posteriormente, reprogramarlas mediante herramientas computacionales para que realicen una funci\u00f3n deseada.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Reprogramamos la del BSC y uno de los primeros autores del estudio.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Un avance en biotecnolog\u00eda<\/h2>\n<p>En biotecnolog\u00eda es muy com\u00fan la utilizaci\u00f3n de ingenier\u00eda gen\u00e9tica para dotar a las bacterias de habilidades que les permita, por ejemplo, producir sustancias de inter\u00e9s industrial o m\u00e9dico, o degradar contaminantes ambientales.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, hasta ahora, la alteraci\u00f3n de las funciones celulares bacterianas se consegu\u00eda introduciendo material gen\u00e9tico ajeno en las c\u00e9lulas a trav\u00e9s de diferentes t\u00e9cnicas y elementos, como los pl\u00e1smidos, unas peque\u00f1as mol\u00e9culas de ADN extracromos\u00f3mico capaces de moverse de una bacteria a otra.<\/p>\n<p>GenRewire consigue el mismo resultado sin ADN introducido y \u201cas\u00ed se evitan problemas como que las bacterias crezcan peor o que el sistema sea poco estable\u201d, explican\u00a0Paula Vidal\u00a0y\u00a0Laura Fern\u00e1ndez, investigadoras del CSIC en el Instituto de Cat\u00e1lisis y Petroleoqu\u00edmica y tambi\u00e9n primeras autoras del estudio.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Este m\u00e9todo\u00a0reduce el riesgo de rechazo por parte del sistema inmunol\u00f3gico<\/p>\n<p>Paula Vidal posible redise\u00f1ar bacterias desde dentro, sin alterar su naturaleza con elementos externos.
