Marzese de l&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idisba.es\/cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institut de Recerca Sanit\u00e0ria Illes Balears (IdISBa)<\/a>, ha descobert canvis gen\u00e8tics en zones poc explorades de l&#8217;ADN hum\u00e0 que podrien ajudar a explicar per qu\u00e8 el glioblastoma, el tumor cerebral m\u00e9s agressiu, \u00e9s tan dif\u00edcil de tractar. Aquest descobriment obre la porta a cercar nous biomarcadors que permetin diagnosticar millor la malaltia i, en un futur, dissenyar estrat\u00e8gies m\u00e9s personalitzades de tractament. El treball, desenvolupat principalment per la investigadora predoctoral Sandra I\u00f1iguez Mu\u00f1oz, primera autora de l&#8217;estudi, s\u2019ha publicat a la revista internacional Genes &amp; Diseases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>El paper de l&#8217;ADN fosc<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tot i que la majoria de la investigaci\u00f3 en c\u00e0ncer s&#8217;ha centrat en els gens, aquests nom\u00e9s representen el 2% del nostre ADN. El 98% restant, anomenat ADN no codificant o ADN fosc, tradicionalment s\u2019ha ignorat. No obstant aix\u00f2, aquest estudi demostra que tamb\u00e9 hi poden apar\u00e8ixer mutacions capaces d&#8217;alterar el funcionament de les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules.\u00abFins ara, aquestes mutacions havien passat desapercebudes perqu\u00e8 no afecten directament els gens\u00bb explica el Dr. Marzese . \u00abLa nostra troballa mostra que aquestes regions de l&#8217;ADN poden tenir un paper clau en la progressi\u00f3 de malalties complexes com ara el c\u00e0ncer\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Per qu\u00e8 \u00e9s important aquest aven\u00e7?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El glioblastoma \u00e9s una malaltia devastadora: la superviv\u00e8ncia mitjana dels pacients no supera els 15 mesos, fins i tot amb els tractaments actuals. Els investigadors de l&#8217;IdISBa han vist que les mutacions trobades a l&#8217;ADN fosc podrien activar mecanismes ocults que impulsen el creixement del tumor i la resist\u00e8ncia a les ter\u00e0pies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un esfor\u00e7 internacional<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Per arribar a aquestes conclusions, l&#8217;equip de l&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idisba.es\/cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IdISBa<\/a> va analitzar mostres de pacients tractats a la Universitat d&#8217;Uppsala (Su\u00e8cia), comparant tumors de grau diferent amb teixit sa. Es va confirmar que les mutacions es repetien en diferents pacients i que estaven absents a les zones no canceroses, fet que refor\u00e7a la seva rellev\u00e0ncia biol\u00f2gica. \u00abEstem comen\u00e7ant a desxifrar els mecanismes ocults que fan el glioblastoma tan agressiu. Con\u00e8ixer com s&#8217;activa des del m\u00e9s profund de l&#8217;ADN ens apropa a comprendre\u2019n la naturalesa i a trobar noves maneres de fer-hi front\u00bb, afirma Sandra I\u00f1iguez Mu\u00f1oz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Una nova frontera a la investigaci\u00f3 del c\u00e0ncer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aquest treball complementa investigacions pr\u00e8vies d\u2019aquest grup de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idisba.es\/cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IdISBa<\/a> i s&#8217;emmarca en una \u00e0rea emergent de l&#8217;oncologia de precisi\u00f3: l&#8217;estudi de l&#8217;ADN no codificant.
