El estudio, publicado en la revista Cell Death &amp; Disease, revela el papel de un cl\u00faster de microARNs llamado miR-424(322)~503 en esta enfermedad.<\/p>\n<p>El trabajo revela el papel de un cl\u00faster de microARNs llamado miR-424(322)~503 en esta enfermedad.<\/p>\n<p>Los microARNs (miRNAs) son peque\u00f1as\u00a0mol\u00e9culas que regulan la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica y desempe\u00f1an funciones clave en numerosos procesos biol\u00f3gicos, incluido el c\u00e1ncer. Su implicaci\u00f3n var\u00eda seg\u00fan el tipo de miRNA y el tipo de tumor. Aunque ya se han identificado varios miRNAs relacionados con el c\u00e1ncer de endometrio, a\u00fan se desconoce mucho sobre su comportamiento en el organismo. Esta investigaci\u00f3n supone un avance importante en ese sentido.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Transformaci\u00f3n maligna de las c\u00e9lulas<\/h2>\n<p>El c\u00e1ncer de endometrio es una enfermedad compleja, caracterizada por alteraciones en diversas v\u00edas moleculares que mantienen el funcionamiento normal del tejido endometrial. Entre las mutaciones m\u00e1s frecuentes se encuentra la del gen PTEN, cuya p\u00e9rdida activa de forma excesiva la v\u00eda PI3K\/AKT. Esta v\u00eda favorece la proliferaci\u00f3n celular e impide la apoptosis, un proceso esencial para el equilibrio tisular. La combinaci\u00f3n de proliferaci\u00f3n descontrolada y ausencia de muerte celular contribuye a la transformaci\u00f3n maligna de las c\u00e9lulas.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio profundiza en c\u00f3mo la p\u00e9rdida del gen PTEN activa la v\u00eda PI3K\/AKT, favoreciendo el desarrollo tumoral. Al centrarse en los microARNs, el equipo identific\u00f3 el cl\u00faster miR-424(322)~503, formado por los miRNAs 424 y 503, que se sobreexpresa cuando falta PTEN y regula procesos clave en el c\u00e1ncer. \u201cSu funci\u00f3n es parad\u00f3jica: puede actuar como oncog\u00e9n o como supresor tumoral seg\u00fan el tipo de c\u00e1ncer y el entorno celular\u201d, explica\u00a0Mar\u00eda Vidal, primera autora del estudio e investigadora del IRBLleida. \u201cHasta ahora, apenas se hab\u00eda estudiado su papel en el c\u00e1ncer de endometrio\u201d, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n<p>La eliminaci\u00f3n conjunta del gen PTEN y un grupo de microARNs reduce la proliferaci\u00f3n celular y reactiva la apoptosis, frenando el avance del tumor en modelos animales.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a modelos\u00a0animales modificados gen\u00e9ticamente sin el gen PTEN ni el cl\u00faster de miRNAs, el equipo ha demostrado que la doble ausencia reduce la proliferaci\u00f3n celular y restaura la apoptosis, frenando el desarrollo tumoral. \u201cEn el contexto de la p\u00e9rdida de PTEN, este cl\u00faster se convierte en un regulador cr\u00edtico de la carcinog\u00e9nesis\u201d, se\u00f1ala David Llobet, codirector del estudio, investigador principal del grupo de C\u00e1ncer ginecol\u00f3gico del IDIBELL y tambi\u00e9n miembro de CIBERONC.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>El c\u00e1ncer m\u00e1s com\u00fan del aparato reproductor femenino\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Los resultados muestran que, sin el cl\u00faster, la agresividad tumoral disminuye notablemente e incluso puede evitarse la formaci\u00f3n del tumor. Este hallazgo es especialmente relevante, dado que el c\u00e1ncer de endometrio afecta a unas 420 000 mujeres en todo el mundo y se diagnostican m\u00e1s de 5 000 nuevos casos al a\u00f1o en Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>Es el c\u00e1ncer m\u00e1s com\u00fan del aparato reproductor femenino y el sexto m\u00e1s frecuente entre mujeres.
