{"id":184631,"date":"2025-10-16T07:28:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T06:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/helloproject.es\/vigilancia\/por-que-la-gente-vuelve-a-fumar-y-como-dejarlo-incluso-tarde-protege-el-cerebro\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T07:28:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T06:28:11","slug":"por-que-la-gente-vuelve-a-fumar-y-como-dejarlo-incluso-tarde-protege-el-cerebro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helloproject.es\/vigilancia\/por-que-la-gente-vuelve-a-fumar-y-como-dejarlo-incluso-tarde-protege-el-cerebro\/","title":{"rendered":"Por qu\u00e9 la gente vuelve a fumar y c\u00f3mo dejarlo (incluso tarde) protege el cerebro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>El tabaquismo sigue siendo una de las <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/Noticias\/El-tabaco-duplica-la-mortalidad-de-mujeres-por-cancer-de-pulmon-en-20-anos\" target=\"_blank\">principales causas\u00a0de enfermedad y muerte<\/a> prevenibles en el mundo, pero dos nuevos estudios aportan pistas clave para prevenir reca\u00eddas y mejorar la salud cerebral tras dejar el tabaco.<\/p>\n<p>El primero, <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/add.70196\" target=\"_blank\">publicado<\/a> en Addiction por investigadores de la Universidad Deakin (Australia), revela que el motivo m\u00e1s fiable para explicar por qu\u00e9 los exfumadores vuelven al h\u00e1bito no son los impulsos de consumir tabaco ni la falta de confianza, sino el cansancio mental de sostener la abstinencia.<\/p>\n<p>Este fen\u00f3meno, denominado fatiga de cesaci\u00f3n psicol\u00f3gica, refleja el agotamiento emocional que implica mantenerse alerta para no recaer, incluso a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de haber dejado de consumir.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dejar de fumar es notoriamente dif\u00edcil: alrededor del 95 % de los intentos sin ayuda terminan en reca\u00edda<\/p>\n<p>Hua Yong, Deakin University<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>El estudio, basado en casi 2 000 exfumadores de Australia, Canad\u00e1, Inglaterra y Estados Unidos, observ\u00f3 que quienes presentaban niveles altos de esa fatiga ten\u00edan un\u00a064 % m\u00e1s de probabilidades de recaer que los que reportaban bajo cansancio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDejar de fumar es notoriamente dif\u00edcil: alrededor del 95 % de los intentos sin ayuda terminan en reca\u00edda\u201d, recuerda el autor principal, Hua Yong, quien sugiere incorporar la evaluaci\u00f3n de esta fatiga en los chequeos de salud y ofrecer apoyo preventivo cuando aparezcan los primeros signos de agotamiento.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>El cerebro mejora sin tabaco<\/h2>\n<p>El segundo trabajo, liderado por Mikaela Bloomberg y Andrew Steptoe, ambos del University College London, ofrece una perspectiva complementaria: abandonar el tabaco, incluso en la madurez, se asocia con un deterioro cognitivo m\u00e1s lento.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lanhl\/article\/PIIS2666-7568(25)00072-8\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\">publicado esta semana<\/a> en The Lancet Healthy Longevity, analiz\u00f3 datos de 9 436 personas mayores de 40 a\u00f1os en 12 pa\u00edses. Quienes dejaron de fumar experimentaron una reducci\u00f3n significativa en la velocidad de su declive cognitivo durante los seis a\u00f1os posteriores al abandono, en comparaci\u00f3n con quienes continuaron fumando: el ritmo de p\u00e9rdida de fluidez verbal se redujo a la mitad y el de memoria se ralentiz\u00f3 un 20 %.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParece que nunca es demasiado tarde para dejar de fumar, tambi\u00e9n por el bien del cerebro\u201d, se\u00f1ala Bloomberg. \u201cEstos resultados son especialmente importantes porque los fumadores de mediana y avanzada edad suelen ser los menos propensos a intentar dejarlo, pese a que sufren m\u00e1s sus efectos\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Parece que nunca es demasiado tarde para dejar de fumar, tambi\u00e9n por el bien del cerebro<\/p>\n<p>Mikaela Bloomberg, UCL<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>El beneficio cognitivo podr\u00eda explicarse porque el tabaco da\u00f1a los vasos sangu\u00edneos que nutren el cerebro, genera inflamaci\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica y estr\u00e9s oxidativo.
