Este combustible, que solo emite vapor de agua al utilizarse, podr\u00eda ser clave para reducir la dependencia de los combustibles f\u00f3siles y contribuir a la reducci\u00f3n de emisiones de CO2. Sin embargo, a\u00fan queda un gran reto: \u00bfc\u00f3mo producirlo de forma\u00a0eficiente y respetuosa con el medio ambiente?<\/p>\n<p>El equipo de investigaci\u00f3n del Grupo de Ingenier\u00eda Qu\u00edmica y Ambiental (GIQA) y del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n de Tecnolog\u00edas para la Sostenibilidad (ITPS) de la URJC est\u00e1 desarrollado nuevos materiales capaces de producir hidr\u00f3geno verde a partir del agua utilizando \u00fanicamente calor procedente del sol.<\/p>\n<p>Para lograrlo, el personal investigador del Grupo de Ingenier\u00eda Qu\u00edmica y Ambiental (GIQA) lleva tiempo trabajando en el dise\u00f1o de materiales cer\u00e1micos que pueden calentarse, liberar ox\u00edgeno y luego reaccionar con vapor de agua para generar hidr\u00f3geno.<\/p>\n<p>Primero se calientan los\u00a0materiales a temperaturas muy elevadas, lo que provoca que liberen ox\u00edgeno, para despu\u00e9s reaccionar con vapor de agua produciendo hidr\u00f3geno<\/p>\n<p>En el trabajo, recientemente publicado en la revista Catalysis Today, se presenta una nueva familia de materiales que han sido moldeados en forma de estructuras porosas. Estos materiales est\u00e1n dise\u00f1ados para su utilizaci\u00f3n en reactores solarizados con elevada eficacia de producci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno a temperaturas inferiores (por debajo de los 1000 \u00baC) a las usualmente necesarias para este tipo de procesos (1300-1500 \u00baC).<\/p>\n<p>Los materiales utilizados pertenecen a la familia de las perovskitas, que cuentan con ox\u00edgeno de gran movilidad en su estructura, permiti\u00e9ndoles participar en un ciclo de reacciones qu\u00edmicas conocido como divisi\u00f3n termoqu\u00edmica del agua de manera activa, estable y duradera.<\/p>\n<p>                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.agenciasinc.es\/var\/ezwebin_site\/storage\/images\/_aliases\/img_1col\/media\/images\/imagen-hidrogeno-verde\/12357120-1-esl-MX\/imagen-hidrogeno-verde.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>    document.addEventListener(\u00abDOMContentLoaded\u00bb, function() {<br \/>\n        var img = document.querySelector(&#8216;.image-container img&#8217;);<br \/>\n        if (img) {<br \/>\n            img.alt = \u00abimagen hidr\u00f3geno verde\u00bb;<br \/>\n        }<br \/>\n    });<\/p>\n<p>En este proceso, primero se calientan los materiales a temperaturas muy elevadas, lo que provoca que liberen ox\u00edgeno, para despu\u00e9s reaccionar con vapor de agua produciendo hidr\u00f3geno y recuperando el ox\u00edgeno.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEste ciclo puede repetirse muchas veces, lo que lo convierte en una alternativa prometedora para la producci\u00f3n continua de hidr\u00f3geno renovable\u201d, apunta Mar\u00eda Linares Serrano, investigadora del GIQA de la URJC.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Producci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3geno verde a gran escala<\/h2>\n<p>La investigaci\u00f3n no se limit\u00f3 a trabajar con estos materiales en forma de polvo. Se moldearon en estructuras m\u00e1s funcionales \u2014como pellets, espumas cer\u00e1micas y capas delgadas sobre soportes monol\u00edticos\u2014 que permiten un mejor contacto con los gases y una transferencia de calor m\u00e1s eficiente.
