La evoluci\u00f3n de la salud mental en Gaza muestra \u201cun deterioro dr\u00e1stico\u201d del bienestar psicosocial desde la escalada de la guerra en octubre de 2023 y un estudio sugiere que, entre la poblaci\u00f3n mayor de 40 a\u00f1os, el malestar psicol\u00f3gico se ha triplicado en los \u00faltimos cinco a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Los datos surgen de tres encuestas domiciliarias realizadas a 677 personas mayores de 40 a\u00f1os en 2020, 2023 y 2025<\/p>\n

La investigaci\u00f3n muestra que la proporci\u00f3n de adultos que experimentan altos niveles de angustia psicol\u00f3gica \u2014como depresi\u00f3n, p\u00e9rdida de sue\u00f1o, sensaci\u00f3n de tensi\u00f3n constante y sentimiento de inutilidad\u2014 era de un 19,5 % en 2020; un 17,4 % en 2023 y del 67,2 % a principios de 2025.<\/p>\n

Los datos surgen de tres encuestas domiciliarias realizadas a 677 personas mayores de 40 a\u00f1os en 2020, 2023 y 2025, precisa el estudio que publica eClinicalMedicine<\/a>, del grupo\u00a0The Lancet, y firman cient\u00edficos palestinos y suizos.<\/p>\n

El tipo de estudio no puede establecer causalidad entre ambos extremos, pero \u201cel fuerte aumento del malestar mental entre 2023 y 2025 coincide temporalmente con el estallido y la continuaci\u00f3n de la guerra actual\u201d, se\u00f1ala la investigaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

La magnitud del fuerte aumento del malestar psicosocial desde antes de la guerra hasta enero de 2025, con una probabilidad en 2025 12 veces mayor que en 2020, \u201ces coherente con una fuerte asociaci\u00f3n temporal con la escalada del conflicto\u201d.<\/p>\n

Conflicto prolongado<\/h2>\n

La franja de Gaza ha sufrido un conflicto prolongado y un bloqueo que ha puesto a prueba las infraestructuras, los servicios b\u00e1sicos y la vida cotidiana. Estos factores de estr\u00e9s cr\u00f3nicos suponen una grave amenaza para la salud mental, indica el estudio, liderado por la universidad Al-Quds (Palestina).<\/p>\n

Tras 15 meses de guerra,\u00a0casi el 70 % de los participantes del estudio cumpl\u00eda con los criterios de problemas graves de salud mental<\/p>\n

Ya antes del conflicto, en 2020 y 2023, casi uno de cada cinco participantes cumpl\u00eda los criterios de problemas graves de salud mental, m\u00e1s de lo que se observa habitualmente en situaciones posconflicto.\u00a0A principios de 2025, tras 15 meses de guerra, esta proporci\u00f3n se hab\u00eda m\u00e1s que triplicado, con casi el 70 % de los participantes por encima del umbral aplicado para el estudio.<\/p>\n

Este marcado cambio se produjo en todos los subgrupos, independientemente de la edad o el sexo, \u201clo que indica una carga de salud mental generalizada e indiscriminada que coincide con la guerra en curso\u201d, escriben los investigadores.<\/p>\n

Los datos de las encuestas revelan que m\u00e1s del 99 % de los participantes declararon haber sufrido al menos un desplazamiento\u00a0a principios de 2025.<\/p>\n

La combinaci\u00f3n de las altas tasas de desplazamiento en un contexto de v\u00edctimas civiles generalizadas contribuy\u00f3 al r\u00e1pido deterioro de la salud mental<\/p>\n
