Sin embargo, cuando se pierde la identidad\u00a0\u2018beige\u2019 del tejido \u2014un proceso vinculado a la obesidad\u2014, esta enzima se produce en exceso.<\/p>\n<p>La grasa beige mantiene silenciada una enzima llamada\u00a0QSOX1, que\u00a0act\u00faa como un interruptor que activa un\u00a0programa gen\u00e9tico de\u00a0fibrosis<\/p>\n<p>El exceso de QSOX1 act\u00faa como un interruptor que activa un programa gen\u00e9tico de fibrosis: las arterias acumulan tejido r\u00edgido y fibroso, perdiendo su flexibilidad natural. Adem\u00e1s, el estudio revel\u00f3 que la falta de grasa beige hace que los vasos sangu\u00edneos sean extremadamente sensibles a la angiotensina II, una de las hormonas m\u00e1s potentes del cuerpo a la hora de estrechar los vasos y elevar la presi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Para demostrar esta relaci\u00f3n causal, los investigadores utilizaron un sofisticado modelo de \u2018traducci\u00f3n inversa\u2019. Primero observaron que los pacientes con m\u00e1s grasa marr\u00f3n ten\u00edan menos hipertensi\u00f3n; despu\u00e9s, en el laboratorio, crearon ratones que eran sanos en todo sentido excepto por una cosa: carec\u00edan del gen PRDM16 en sus c\u00e9lulas grasas, lo que les imped\u00eda formar grasa beige.
