La clave puede estar en las variantes de un gen receptor de la nicotina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Las variantes en un gen, llamado\u00a0CHRNB 2, se relacionan con la reducci\u00f3n del h\u00e1bito tab\u00e1quico al influir sobre el proceso de recompensa del cerebro, seg\u00fan un nuevo estudio publicado en\u00a0Nature Communications.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Estos hallazgos se observaron, sobre todo, en datos\u00a0poblacionales mexicanos, aunque los mismos efectos se confirmaron en mutaciones de personas con ascendencia asi\u00e1tica y europea.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Estudios previos vincularon muchas subunidades de receptores con el tabaquismo pero no se comprend\u00eda bien\u00a0la funci\u00f3n de cada una de ellas<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLos receptores de acetilcolina son prote\u00ednas que se unen a la nicotina en el cerebro y desencadenan cambios en el comportamiento, en las\u00a0sensaciones de placer\u00a0y el grado adicci\u00f3n de fumadores\u201d explica a SINC el primer autor del trabajo e investigador del Centro de Gen\u00e9tica Regeneron (EE UU),\u00a0Veera Rajagopa.<\/p>\n<p>En su proyecto, revelaron que las mutaciones de un receptor nicot\u00ednico (CHRNB2), que codifica una grupo de prote\u00ednas, se asociaban con un menor consumo de cigarrillos. Estudios previos vincularon muchas subunidades de receptores con el tabaquismo \u201cpero la funci\u00f3n de cada subunidad no se comprend\u00eda bien\u201d explica el experto.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                    <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/Noticias\/Por-primera-vez-en-Espana-el-numero-de-fumadoras-jovenes-dobla-al-de-los-hombres\" class=\"small_fotoderecha_titulo\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"small_fotoderecha_titulo\">Por primera vez en Espa\u00f1a el n\u00famero de fumadoras j\u00f3venes dobla al de los hombres <\/h3>\n<p>                    <\/p>\n<p>                                SINC<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Menor grado de tabaquismo<\/h2>\n<p>Para saberlo, el equipo de Rajagopa secuenci\u00f3 los genomas de 37 897 fumadores que participaron en el Estudio Prospectivo de Ciudad de M\u00e9xico en el que se analiza los factores que impactan contra la salud de la poblaci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Asimismo, identificaron una variante de CHRNB2 \u2013codifica la subunidad \u03b23 \u2013 que se asoci\u00f3 a un menor consumo diario de cigarrillos entre fumadores. Los participantes que pose\u00edan una o dos copias del gen mutado fumaban entre un 21 y un 78% menos que aquellos con la versi\u00f3n m\u00e1s t\u00edpica.<\/p>\n<p>Esta variaci\u00f3n se observ\u00f3 en mayor medida entre las personas de ascendencia ind\u00edgena y se encontraron efectos similares de otras mutaciones en poblaciones con ascendencia europea y asi\u00e1tica, gracias a datos del Biobanco del Reino y al Biobanco de Jap\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Los participantes que pose\u00edan una o dos copias del gen mutado fumaban entre un 21 y un 78% menos que aquellos con la versi\u00f3n m\u00e1s t\u00edpica<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEsto quiere decir que, si bien cada poblaci\u00f3n tiende a tener ciertas variantes \u00fanicas, no existe diferencia entre el gen real o su expresi\u00f3n entre las poblaciones\u201d, aclara el l\u00edder del estudio y vicepresidente en la misma instituci\u00f3n,\u00a0Giovanni Coppola. Todav\u00eda son necesarias cohortes m\u00e1s grandes y una investigaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s s\u00f3lida que eval\u00fae la relaci\u00f3n entre dichas mutaciones y la dependencia al tabaco.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Terapias de inhibidores<\/h2>\n<p>Los datos indican que las variantes gen\u00e9ticas que regulan la actividad de CHRNB2 pueden reducir el n\u00famero de cigarrillos que consumen los fumadores y que, por lo tanto, la inhibici\u00f3n de la subunidad \u03b23 ser\u00eda una diana terap\u00e9utica para tratar la adicci\u00f3n a la nicotina. \u201cTodav\u00eda es muy pronto para determinar su seguridad y eficacia\u201d, a\u00f1ade. \u201cCentrarse en las prote\u00ednas cerebrales sigue siendo un reto y el proceso en este campo es muy limitado para condiciones como el tabaquismo.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, las estrategias potenciales incluyen el uso de peque\u00f1as mol\u00e9culas de ARN que bloquean la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica de CHRNB3 en el cerebro (SIRNA)\u00a0o f\u00e1rmacos de mol\u00e9culas peque\u00f1as que puedan penetrarlo y bloquear la uni\u00f3n de las prote\u00ednas \u03b23 a la nicotina.<\/p>\n<p>Referencia:<\/p>\n<p>Rajagopal, V. et al.
