Sin embargo, la ausencia de objetos similares en nuestro sistema solar los convierte en casos interesantes para comprender c\u00f3mo se forman y evolucionan los sistemas planetarios.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ahora, un estudio liderado por el Instituto de Astrof\u00edsica de Andaluc\u00eda (IAA-CSIC) ha validado la naturaleza planetaria de cuatro candidatos identificados por el sat\u00e9lite TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), en una misi\u00f3n de la NASA dedicada a la b\u00fasqueda de exoplanetas.<\/p>\n<p>Su ausencia en nuestro\u00a0Sistema Solar los convierte en objetos muy interesantes para comprender c\u00f3mo se forman y evolucionan los planetas<\/p>\n<p>En los cuatro planetas orbitan estrellas de tipo K, en las que se han descubierto menos subneptunos que en las enanas M, estrellas en las que se concentra la mayor\u00eda de las detecciones realizadas hasta ahora. Los resultados del trabajo se han publicado en\u00a0Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de ampliar el n\u00famero de subneptunos conocidos en este tipo de estrellas, dos de los cuatro nuevos planetas destacan por encontrarse en una regi\u00f3n poco poblada del universo planetario.\u00a0Est\u00e1n situados en el l\u00edmite del llamado \u2018desierto de los Neptunos\u2019, una regi\u00f3n en la que se han registrado muy pocos planetas similares al gigante de hilo, lo que los convierte en objetos poco comunes y de gran inter\u00e9s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan explica SINC el primer autor del trabajo e investigador del IAA &#8211; CSIC,\u00a0Giuseppe Morello, estas zonas carecen de subneptunos porque todav\u00eda no se han detectado de forma exhaustiva. \u201cSi fueran muy prevalentes y tuvieran un gran tama\u00f1o, no ser\u00eda un problema detectarlos, el problema es observar los m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Estrellas tipo K<\/h2>\n<p>Hasta ahora, la mayor\u00eda de los subneptunos conocidos se han detectado alrededor de estrellas enanas M, las m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as, fr\u00edas y longevas del universo. Estos cuerpos celestes ofrecen las condiciones ideales para t\u00e9cnicas de detecci\u00f3n como el tr\u00e1nsito \u2014que mide la disminuci\u00f3n de brillo cuando un planeta pasa frente a su estrella\u2014 o la velocidad radial, ya que su peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o y masa hacen evidente la se\u00f1al producida por los planetas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Los planetas que orbitan estas estrellas tienen una mayor probabilidad de conservar sus atm\u00f3sferas<\/p>\n<p>Giuseppe Morello, primer autor del estudio e investigador del IAA-CSIC<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>El equipo decidi\u00f3 centrar su b\u00fasqueda en estrellas de tipo K, a pesar de ser algo m\u00e1s grandes que las enanas M, lo que dificulta la detecci\u00f3n y caracterizaci\u00f3n de los planetas.<\/p>\n<p>No obstante, tambi\u00e9n ofrecen ventajas importantes.\u00a0\u201cEn particular, los planetas que orbitan estas estrellas tienen una mayor probabilidad de conservar sus atm\u00f3sferas, al estar expuestos a niveles m\u00e1s bajos de radiaci\u00f3n de alta energ\u00eda\u201d, se\u00f1ala Morello. Con este objetivo, el equipo valid\u00f3 cuatro candidatos planetarios detectados por TESS mediante la combinaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas cl\u00e1sicas y herramientas de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Para ello, emplearon datos fotom\u00e9tricos, espectrosc\u00f3picos y de imagen de alta resoluci\u00f3n procedentes del Programa de Seguimiento de Observaciones de TESS (TFOP), adem\u00e1s de observaciones realizadas con MuSCAT2, instrumento instalado en el Observatorio del Teide. Gracias a este enfoque, lograron confirmar la naturaleza planetaria de los cuatro objetos y determinar las propiedades de sus sistemas.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Una regi\u00f3n despoblada<\/h2>\n<p>Dos de los planetas validados presentan caracter\u00edsticas llamativas. \u201cMientras que TOI-2133 b y TOI-5734 b se encuentran cerca del borde superior del valle de radios, TOI-5938 b y TOI-7009 b est\u00e1n en el l\u00edmite del desierto de los Neptunos, lo que los convierte en ejemplos poco comunes dentro de la poblaci\u00f3n conocida de subneptunos\u201d, apunta el autor principal.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Estos planetas son objetos ideales para realizar mediciones precisas de masa y estudiar sus atm\u00f3sferas con las instalaciones actuales<\/p>\n<p>Giuseppe Morello, primer autor del estudio e investigador del IAA-CSIC<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>El llamado \u201cvalle de radios\u201d es una regi\u00f3n donde se observa una escasez de planetas de tama\u00f1os intermedios, lo que sugiere que muchos mundos pierden su atm\u00f3sfera primordial y terminan convirti\u00e9ndose en planetas rocosos, mientras que otros la mantienen y permanecen como mini-Neptunos.<\/p>\n<p>Por su parte, el \u201cdesierto de los Neptunos\u201d destaca por la sorprendente ausencia de planetas similares a Neptuno en \u00f3rbitas muy cercanas a sus estrellas. \u201cEstos planetas son objetivos ideales para realizar mediciones precisas de masa y estudiar sus atm\u00f3sferas con las instalaciones actuales, lo que los convierte en sistemas de referencia para futuros estudios sobre la formaci\u00f3n y evoluci\u00f3n planetaria\u201d, concluye Morello.<\/p>\n<p>Referencia:<\/p>\n<p>Morello.
