Los tres fragmentos analizados en este nuevo estudio -identificados como ATD6-115, ATD6-128 y ATD6-401- corresponden a individuos adultos.<\/p>\n<p>El an\u00e1lisis se ha realizado mediante microtomograf\u00eda computarizada, una t\u00e9cnica que permite medir por separado las tres capas que componen el hueso craneal (la tabla externa, la d\u00edploe y la tabla interna) y examinar con detalle otros rasgos de la superficie \u00f3sea, como los canales vasculares y los microfor\u00e1menes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Es la primera vez que podemos comparar de forma cuantitativa el grosor craneal de esta especie, capa por capa, con el resto de los datos disponibles para el g\u00e9nero Homo<\/p>\n<p>Rafael Gallareto-Sande, primer autor (CENIEH)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Al analizar cada capa por separado, la d\u00edploe (el tejido esponjoso interior del hueso) result\u00f3 ser la m\u00e1s gruesa en todos los casos, representando entre el 41 % y el 50 % del grosor total, en l\u00ednea con lo observado en neandertales y humanos modernos.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, los fragmentos de Homo antecessor muestran una proporci\u00f3n distinta entre las otras dos capas: una tabla externa relativamente m\u00e1s delgada y una tabla interna relativamente m\u00e1s gruesa que en las otras dos especies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEs la primera vez que podemos comparar de forma cuantitativa el grosor craneal de esta especie, capa por capa, con el resto de los datos disponibles para el g\u00e9nero Homo, y eso aporta informaci\u00f3n muy valiosa que ayuda a interpretar la posici\u00f3n evolutiva de esta especie\u201d, afirma Gallareto Sande.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Caracter\u00edsticas en mosaico<\/h2>\n<p>Homo antecessor fue descrita originalmente a partir de los restos hallados en el nivel TD6 de la Gran Dolina como una especie que presenta caracter\u00edsticas en mosaico, combinando rasgos faciales y neurocraneales derivados con rasgos postcraneales y dentales m\u00e1s primitivos, y se considera hoy un grupo cercano a la ra\u00edz evolutiva com\u00fan de neandertales y humanos modernos.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quotebefore.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Confiamos en que en las pr\u00f3ximas campa\u00f1as se sigan recuperando nuevos restos craneales que permitan contrastar lo observado y profundizar en su interpretaci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p>Rafael Gallareto-Sande, primer autor<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/bundles\/app\/images\/quoteafter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Los resultados de este trabajo corroboran esa caracterizaci\u00f3n, sumando el grosor y la arquitectura interna del hueso parietal a los rasgos que definen esa combinaci\u00f3n de lo ancestral y lo derivado. Pero se trata de una tendencia, no de una conclusi\u00f3n definitiva ya que la muestra de Homo antecessor actual es reducida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa muestra disponible es todav\u00eda limitada y fragmentada, por lo que cualquier fragmento nuevo puede matizar estos resultados.
