Al alterar simult\u00e1neamente ambas v\u00edas metab\u00f3licas, el tratamiento frena el crecimiento del tumor.<\/p>\n<p>El compuesto fue eficaz frente a c\u00e9lulas humanas de melanoma, leucemia y otros tipos de c\u00e1ncer<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl modo en el que act\u00faa este f\u00e1rmaco fue totalmente inesperado\u201d, afirma el col\u00edder del trabajo e investigador del Laboratorio Hsu (EE.UU), Ken Hsu,\u00a0que dise\u00f1\u00f3 la mol\u00e9cula. \u201cSe necesit\u00f3 mucha investigaci\u00f3n para averiguar qu\u00e9 estaba pasando a nivel molecular. Tambi\u00e9n, nos sorprendi\u00f3 ver con qu\u00e9 selectividad se une a las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>M\u00e1s all\u00e1 del c\u00e1ncer<\/h2>\n<p>Los f\u00e1rmacos que atacan el c\u00e1ncer a nivel molecular no son totalmente nuevos. Existe una clase de compuestos que utilizan un anticuerpo para dirigirse a las c\u00e9lulas tumorales y liberar una\u00a0carga de quimioterapia directamente en el tumor. No obstante, presentan numerosas limitaciones.<\/p>\n<p>Los expertos se\u00f1alan que se necesitan muchas m\u00e1s pruebas de laboratorio antes de que el f\u00e1rmaco pueda estudiarse en personas<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLos anticuerpos son dif\u00edciles de fabricar y, debido a su gran tama\u00f1o, solo pueden actuar sobre prote\u00ednas situadas en la superficie de las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas\u201d, explica Hsu. \u201cCreemos que este nuevo f\u00e1rmaco es equivalente, pero son m\u00e1s f\u00e1ciles de fabricar y, al ser m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os, pueden actuar sobre prote\u00ednas que se encuentran en el interior de las c\u00e9lulas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Esta investigaci\u00f3n se encuentra en sus primeras fases, aunque los resultados parecen prometedores.
