Su objetivo ha sido encontrar un tratamiento para la enfermedad de Castleman multic\u00e9ntrica idiop\u00e1tica (iMCD), una patolog\u00eda rara y potencialmente mortal.<\/p>\n<p>Un paciente que estaba ingresado en cuidados paliativos ha sido el primero en beneficiarse de este descubrimiento. La IA identific\u00f3 el adalimumab, un f\u00e1rmaco ya aprobado para otras enfermedades, como posible tratamiento.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque la enfermedad de Castleman es relativamente rara, con unos 5 000 casos diagnosticados anualmente en Estados Unidos, los hallazgos de este trabajo podr\u00edan salvar muchas m\u00e1s vidas<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores confirmaron que este medicamento inhibe una prote\u00edna clave en esta condici\u00f3n. Es m\u00e1s, detectaron niveles elevados de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de TNF en pacientes con formas graves de la enfermedad, y sus c\u00e9lulas inmunes producen m\u00e1s factor cuando se activan en comparaci\u00f3n con individuos sanos.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Aplicaciones en otras enfermedades raras<\/h2>\n<p>David Fajgenbaum, autor principal del estudio, y Luke Chen, m\u00e9dico del paciente, decidieron probar este inhibidor de TNF por primera vez en un afectado por iMCD. \u201cEste caso podr\u00eda ser el primero de muchos en los que un sistema de predicci\u00f3n de IA salve vidas, con posibles aplicaciones en otras enfermedades raras\u201d, apuntan.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados\u00a0muestran que el paciente lleva\u00a0casi dos a\u00f1os en remisi\u00f3n.
