{"id":70634,"date":"2025-03-03T14:28:07","date_gmt":"2025-03-03T13:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/helloproject.es\/vigilancia\/el-deshielo-de-la-antartida-frenara-la-mayor-corriente-oceanica-del-planeta\/"},"modified":"2025-03-03T14:28:07","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T13:28:07","slug":"el-deshielo-de-la-antartida-frenara-la-mayor-corriente-oceanica-del-planeta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helloproject.es\/vigilancia\/el-deshielo-de-la-antartida-frenara-la-mayor-corriente-oceanica-del-planeta\/","title":{"rendered":"El deshielo de la Ant\u00e1rtida frenar\u00e1 la mayor corriente oce\u00e1nica del planeta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>El deshielo de las capas de hielo est\u00e1 provocando la ralentizaci\u00f3n de la Corriente Circumpolar Ant\u00e1rtica (CCA), la m\u00e1s fuerte del mundo, lo que podr\u00eda tener impactos significativos en la\u00a0subida del nivel del mar, el calentamiento del agua marina y los ecosistemas.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1s de cuatro veces m\u00e1s fuerte que la corriente del Golfo, la Corriente Circumpolar Ant\u00e1rtica supone una parte crucial de la \u00abcinta transportadora oce\u00e1nica\u00bb del mundo, que mueve el agua por todo el planeta, uniendo los oc\u00e9anos Atl\u00e1ntico, Pac\u00edfico e \u00cdndico.<\/p>\n<p>La Corriente Circumpolar Ant\u00e1rtica, clave en la circulaci\u00f3n oce\u00e1nica global, conecta los oc\u00e9anos Atl\u00e1ntico, Pac\u00edfico e \u00cdndico<\/p>\n<p>La CCA es el principal mecanismo de intercambio de calor, di\u00f3xido de carbono, productos qu\u00edmicos y biolog\u00eda a trav\u00e9s de estas cuencas oce\u00e1nicas.<\/p>\n<p>En estos momentos las capas de hielo que se derriten en la Ant\u00e1rtida vierten grandes cantidades de agua dulce en el oc\u00e9ano salado. Eso da lugar a un cambio significativo en la\u00a0salinidad del oc\u00e9ano que genera el debilitamiento del hundimiento del agua oce\u00e1nica superficial hacia las profundidades (lo que se denomina agua de fondo ant\u00e1rtica) y, seg\u00fan este estudio, un debilitamiento del fuerte chorro oce\u00e1nico que rodea la Ant\u00e1rtida.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Altas emisiones de carbono<\/h2>\n<p>Pues bien, un grupo de investigadores, de la Universidad de Melbourne (Australia) y del Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n NORCE de Noruega, han demostrado que la CCA se ralentizar\u00e1 en torno a un 20 % de aqu\u00ed a 2050 en un escenario de altas emisiones de carbono, seg\u00fan un estudio recogido este lunes en la revista Environmental Research Letters.<\/p>\n<p>Se espera que esta afluencia de agua dulce del deshielo al Oc\u00e9ano Austral modifique las propiedades, como la densidad (salinidad) del oc\u00e9ano y sus patrones de circulaci\u00f3n<\/p>\n<p>Para llegar a esta conclusi\u00f3n analizaron simulaciones de alta resoluci\u00f3n de las corrientes oce\u00e1nicas, la capacidad de transportar el calor y otros factores en el oc\u00e9ano y el hielo marino para diagnosticar el impacto de los cambios de temperatura, salinidad y condiciones del viento.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSe espera que esta afluencia de agua dulce del deshielo al Oc\u00e9ano Austral modifique las propiedades, como la densidad (salinidad) del oc\u00e9ano y sus patrones de circulaci\u00f3n\u201d, subraya uno de los autores Bishakhdatta Gayen, especialista en mec\u00e1nica de fluidos de la Universidad de Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Ruptura del equilibrio<\/h2>\n<p>La CCA act\u00faa como barrera para las especies invasoras, como las balsas de algas toro australes que avanzan sobre las corrientes, o los animales marinos, como las gambas o los moluscos procedentes de otros continentes que llegan a la Ant\u00e1rtida.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEl oc\u00e9ano es extremadamente complejo y est\u00e1 finamente equilibrado.
