Los signos inequ\u00edvocos del cambio clim\u00e1tico antrop\u00f3geno batieron todos los r\u00e9cords en 2024, y algunas de sus consecuencias ser\u00e1n irreversibles durante siglos o incluso milenios, advierte un nuevo informe de la Organizaci\u00f3n Meteorol\u00f3gica Mundial (OMM). En la publicaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se ponen de relieve las desmedidas perturbaciones econ\u00f3micas y sociales fruto de las condiciones meteorol\u00f3gicas extremas.<\/p>\n

El documento confirma que 2024 fue, probablemente, el primer a\u00f1o natural en superar en m\u00e1s de 1,5 \u00b0C el valor de referencia de la era preindustrial, dado que la temperatura media mundial cerca la superficie estuvo 1,55 \u00b1 0,13 \u00b0C por encima de la media del per\u00edodo 1850-1900. Se trata del a\u00f1o m\u00e1s c\u00e1lido desde que empezaron a registrarse los valores de temperatura hace 175 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

La temperatura media mundial en 2024 estuvo 1,55 \u00b0C por encima del promedio de 1850-1900. \u00abLas\u00a0se\u00f1ales de socorro de nuestro planeta se multiplican, pero en este informe se demuestra que a\u00fan es posible limitar el aumento de la temperatura mundial a largo plazo a 1,5 grados Celsius\u00bb, advirti\u00f3 el secretario general de la ONU, Ant\u00f3nio Guterres.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

La concentraci\u00f3n de CO2 alcanz\u00f3 niveles r\u00e9cord en 800.000 a\u00f1os, la \u00faltima d\u00e9cada fue la m\u00e1s c\u00e1lida registrada y la p\u00e9rdida de masa glaciar en los \u00faltimos tres a\u00f1os ha sido la mayor medida hasta la fecha<\/p>\n

El informe se\u00f1ala que la concentraci\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica de di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO2) ha alcanzado los niveles m\u00e1s altos en 800.000 a\u00f1os y que los \u00faltimos diez a\u00f1os han sido los m\u00e1s c\u00e1lidos registrados. Adem\u00e1s, la p\u00e9rdida de masa glaciar de los \u00faltimos tres a\u00f1os es la mayor desde que existen mediciones.<\/p>\n

\u00abSobrepasar en un a\u00f1o concreto el umbral de calentamiento de 1,5 \u00b0C no supone que sea imposible alcanzar los objetivos del Acuerdo de Par\u00eds, pero es una llamada de atenci\u00f3n sobre los crecientes riesgos para nuestras vidas, econom\u00edas y el planeta\u00bb, indic\u00f3 la secretaria general de la OMM, Celeste Saulo.<\/p>\n

El 90 % del exceso de calor del planeta se acumula en los oc\u00e9anos, y 2024 marc\u00f3 el nivel m\u00e1s alto de contenido calor\u00edfico oce\u00e1nico en 65 a\u00f1os de mediciones. En los \u00faltimos ocho a\u00f1os, este indicador ha batido r\u00e9cords consecutivos. A su vez, la velocidad de aumento del nivel del mar se ha duplicado desde que se iniciaron las mediciones por sat\u00e9lite.<\/p>\n

Fen\u00f3menos extremos y sus efectos<\/h2>\n

Los fen\u00f3menos meteorol\u00f3gicos extremos registrados en 2024 provocaron el mayor n\u00famero anual de desplazados desde 2008. Adem\u00e1s de la destrucci\u00f3n de viviendas e infraestructuras, estos eventos agravaron crisis alimentarias en 18 pa\u00edses, debido a la combinaci\u00f3n de sequ\u00edas, conflictos y el alza de los precios de los alimentos. Entre los desastres m\u00e1s graves del a\u00f1o se encuentran el tif\u00f3n Yagi en el sudeste asi\u00e1tico, los huracanes Helene y Milton en EE UU, y el\u00a0cicl\u00f3n Chido en el oc\u00e9ano \u00cdndico, que causaron cientos de v\u00edctimas y p\u00e9rdidas econ\u00f3micas millonarias.<\/p>\n
